Direction: Forward

It is a little stale to have quotes at the beginning of every post/blog, however I actually enjoy reading quotes- especially if they pertain to the topic at hand. I un-digress and explain my topic “Direction: Forward.”

“We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories. Some take us forward, they’re called dreams.” Jeremy Irons

My boyfriend, who is very intelligent, reminded me that every notable blog has a direction and a purpose. My last entry was a great way to see into my personality (which is very analytical and prosaic at times) and who I am, besides a blogger. I did not put an intention of my blog.

Therefore there are a few possibilities of the direction:

  • I do not feel that there needs to be another cooking blog. Don’t interpret me the wrong way, I love reading people’s blogs about their food and seeing the beautiful pictures of food (which always makes me hungry). The problem with that is: how many people I know who do it very nicely for the world to see?
  • The other option for this blog is an exercise/fitness blog. I am sure there are billions of them out there, and the likelihood of this one being followed is minimal. I do need an accountability factor when it comes to working out, therefore you (my blog) will be the perfect companion of encouraging me on my fitness.

Now that the purpose has been established I want to address the readers with a name to make it more personable. Therefore my readers are deemed: Kin. It is a little Anne Frank to name my blog, but it is my personal journey and think it is appropriate. Let the fitness marathon commence.

R&R: Rules and Regulations, what else do you think R&R stands for?

Mahatma Gandhi:

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall.

I love this quote, maybe its the constant western philosophy that has been drilled into my head through Disney and Warner Brother’s films, of good trumping evil, but it seems to keep me wanting to do the right things. It seems as if those who don’t do the correct and honest things seem to skirt the public eye. I certainly am a work in progress when it comes to character, morality, education, and friendships, but there are a few things  know will not change in my lifetime:

  1. I will not intentionally hurt physically and emotionally someone (friend and foe): Females seem to backstab each other, which is very silly considering how much farther as a group women need to go inorder to be considered equals
  2.  I will not steal (never have and never will)
  3.  I will not be so closed minded that I wont listen to someones point (ESP political): I have some very radical and vocal relatives when it comes to politics. The most frustrating part about discussing anything remotely political is how personal they receive it. You cannot even discuss how you feel about legislation without them walking out of the room (crying/swearing), literally. I feel sorry they cannot accept the fact my 80/90 year old relatives will not change to their 20+ year old political views. I, however, love hearing other peoples ideas and interpretations. I like to think I am intelligent but some people are smarter and may see things in a better point of view.
  4. Friendships are never a game: manipulation only brings tears, hurt, and confusion. I will admit I am not the best at keeping in touch with friends, but I never intensionally used my friendships
I really hope the people who know me, will agree that these are some of the basic pillars I have developed my morals on. If not I would love to hear how I could change to become a better person.
